The Pull: The Cycling Addiction by Phil Cavell

Phil Cavell wants to help you. He’s spent an entire career as a bike fitter, philosopher, researcher, teacher, racer, writer and connector of specialists across the cycling spectrum. His first book, The Mid-Life Cyclist, examined the current generation of middle-aged cyclists, literally the first generation to attempt to be good at bikes well past its prime, signposting the physical changes to muscle mass, bone density, heart health, hormones, etc. that folks like me (and probably you) should be concerned about as we race against our younger selves and against the chasing pack of old age.

The Cycling Addiction wonders why we insist on focusing so much of our energy on riding bikes, and how best, given that propensity, to manage ourselves as we do it.

I interviewed Phil about his book and the litany of fascinating ideas he brings up in the context of this cycling habit we all seem to have.
