Revolting 97

Nattering Nabobs of Negativism. This week we’re going negative. We’ve been asked to discuss our least favorite music of all time. And where to start!?!?! I mean, just think about it. All over the world musicians, both talented and not, are in studios committing all manner of shear garbage to the permanent musical record.

Music pick of the week –

Robot – Dazey and the Scouts – Maggot (2017)

Stevil – Single Mothers – Negative Qualities (2014)

I’m 100% with Stevil regarding that 4 Non-Blondes dreck. Also that gawd-awful song “Laid” by James which was floating around at the same time was nearly as hideous. Oh wait, also fuck that band Live.

Despite that previous rant, I don’t really hate anything but I’m surprised no mention of nearly any modern country or Nu-Metal was made. The only FF songs that doesn’t make me gag are the more fuzzy “X-Static” and “Exhausted” from their debut. It’s interesting that everything else besides the FF that Mr Grohl has had a hand in is at least decent. The Probot stuff was fun.

@DrRay – We could have gone on forever. We’d mentioned new country in previous pods, so didn’t return to it. It’s a cheater episode really, because the topic of bad music is endless.

Just getting to this now. Here’s what I hate (lately)…

Jimmy Buffet’s passing has led everyone everywhere to play “Margaritaville,” over and over and over.

    STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

    ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!

And I agree with Stevil about Rush. I’d sooner go full Vinny Van Gogh (both ears) than listen to that shit.

Pat – I grew up in Mobile AL, so I had heard enough of Jimmy Buffet by about 1982, but then had to endure YEARS more of that garbage. May he rest in some sort of musical peace.
