Are You Ready For A Harley-Davidson E-Bike?

Harley-Davidson, yes that Harley, has just revealed a new company arm which is focusing exclusively on (of course) e-bikes . It is called Serial 1 Cycle Co., which takes its name from “Serial Number One,” the nickname for Harley-Davidson’s first motorcycle built in 1903.

Still in prototype form the very first design is (obviously) directed towards street riding with its very white tires, belt driven transmission and a motor that is rumored to top out at the U.S. limit of 20 mph for pedal assisted bikes. The design, with those white tires, tan leather saddle and grips as well as the black frame styling are meant to mimic that very first motorcycle.

A countdown timer on the Serial 1 website seems to suggest a November 16th update or perhaps an official release of the bicycle. This first generation e-bike from the new offshoot will be available through direct-to-consumer sales online and select Harley-Davidson dealers. They will not be sold at independent bike shops or other retail outlets.

Full information at this time is limited to the video below. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Cool! It looks kind of elegant, but I wonder what the price will be and whether the market is already saturated.

I hope there is an option that includes a small speaker making that “potato-potato-potato” sound! Also, this is not H-D’s first excursion into electrically powered two-wheelers, hence the joke that their e-bikes need a built in sound generator is already old:
