Video – Everything I Wish I Knew…

The Loam Ranger is clearly one of the best, most prolific and most successful MTB YouTubers, and there’s a reason for that. This video, Everything I WISH I KNEW When I Started Mountain Biking, captures so much useful information in 15 minutes that you can’t help but get something out of it.

I especially like the way he addresses counter-intuitive advice like, “to avoid going over the bars get your weight low, not back,” and “you don’t need to be clipped in to have perfect control of the bike.”

Send it to your friends who are just starting out, or just coming back to the mountain bike.

The basic stuff here is solid. Pedal-wise sharp pins or grub screws FTW, but skip the Outlier pedals and go with something simple, like the modern Raceface Chesters. Additionally, I’d recommend for viewers to skip the drops/jumps segment at the end and proceed to checking out Rich Drew. https://www.youtube.com/@richdrewtherideseries
