Video – China by Bike: The Tianfu Greenway

The bike is a universal. It goes everywhere. And what I know about bikes and cycling is a fraction of what there is to know. I couldn’t have found Chengdu on a map before seeing this video, and it’s a mega-city. Getting this little window into the cycling life there is fascinating to me.

The Tianfu Greenway is 100km long, fully separated from car traffic and connects something like 121 parks. It’s also an architectural marvel, as you’ll see here. As a Bostonian, I love that they name checked the Emerald Necklace here in my home city, which was the first urban greenway, established in the 19th century. Urban planning has come a long way since then.
