John has a gravel event coming up this weekend, and he was wishing for something that would give him instant base miles, which he’s lacking. Instead, he managed to find a way to make the coming weekend more challenging, not less so.

Robot is stranger every week! “I want everything to be pneumatic.” Just check the googlenets for that word in Brave New World. Apparently the future awaits you, John!
Potential question for the Paceline: what makes a great group ride leader? Who do you want to ride with and why?
@John – Thanks for noticing. I think this is actually how strange I am all the time, but I’m new to podcasting and getting more comfortable week-by-week, being myself. Also thanks for your question. It’s a good one.
Hey Robot, whenever a doc makes a comment about my *ahem* medical history, I just say something like “What, isn’t that normal?”.
Hope the ride went well.
Dan, the ride was a shit show, a glorious, rambling shit show. I died a little out there. No regrets. As for my doctor, I usually say something after like, “and everyone else is an obese mess nurturing a cae of diabetes or heart disease,” or, “I guess other people aren’t trying as hard as I am.” But also, fuck doctors. I have some good friends who are doctors, but come on, the messiah complex wears me out.
