Video – Seven Serpents 2025

Well, this looks hard, but there IS a ferry transfer, maybe two of them, and I’m a sucker for a ferry.

Starting in Slovenia, riders get rolling views of castles, lakes, and forests. There is a painfully difficult hike-a-bike section as the course swings into Croatia. The climbs are all steep, the weather is unreliable, and the chances of getting lost seem better than you’d want them to, but eventually it all ends in the historic Italian city of Trieste.

I’m not signing up, but I am filing it away for later.

This seems like a slightly more civilized version of the ultra endurance races and the like that were popular 15 + years ago. I acknowledge the allure of self challenge and extreme type 2 fun involved. However, when I go someplace to ride I am there to ride, not forage for food, set up camp, or battle weather/animals/locals. Maybe that is too first world of me, not that going on a semi-guided event like this isn’t, but having done that kind of trip (primitive camping, bathing in freezing rivers, cooking our own meals while trying to muster the stamina to ride relentlessly burly terrain not to mention sleeping on countless nasty floors in my punk rocking daze) I’ll stick to soft kitten boi experiences regarding food and accommodations. Meow.
