Your comments in this episode about how mountain biking is more time efficient were interesting to me. For me, it’s the exact opposite. Road/gravel riding is much more time efficient for me because I can start/finish at my garage. To ride good mountain bike trails I have to load the bike on my car and drive at least 30 minutes. That means at least 1+ hours of overhead for a mountain bike ride that I don’t pay to leave on my road bike from my garage. Maybe I wish I live where you do!

I’m sure I’m not the only one whose riding has evolved over the years.
70s into the 80s – road riding because…no other options
Late 80s into 90s – bought a mt bike and was possessed. Still did road rides during the week because it was easier, but weekends were long mtb rides – always
Late 90s – got into doing more road rides on weekends.
Early 2000’s – more road riding, occasional mtb
2011 – got my first gravel bike, actually a cyclocross bike and barely touched mtb. Lots of road riding, occssional gravel on my old mtb trails
Present – haven’t touched mtb for years, riding road and riding trails on gravel bike
