This video features Brandon Semenuk, Motörhead, and it’s shot in black and white. I don’t wanna say they made it for me, but they didn’t not, if you know what I mean. Part of the premise is that they shot it in not-the-best light, but to my eye it looks fantastic, a real piece of video art. It’s not the most cogent MTB video you’ll ever watch, but it’s got a hard Friday vibe and a real WGAF approach that I really, really appreciate.
Robot fell in love with cycling watching the older neighborhood kids ride wheelies down the street. It was the early '70s, and Evel Knievel was jumping motorcycles over buses. Everything seemed possible. From that moment, the die was cast (iacta alia est).
He studied philosophy in college, of course he did. That's what idealists do, romantics, kids who think there must be a better way. At the same time, bikes were carrying him everywhere, delivering all of life's gifts and surprises. Occasionally he crashed and didn't mind.

For the first 2 minutes I thought you were playing with me, then the Motorhead finally started. I mean, that would be a good practical joke to get somebody jazzed then have only that techno-vibe Alvin and the Chipmunks music that is so popular in video clips these days playing.
I really liked the old guy, too.
Perfect stoke for some night riding. Metal in my skull along with mentally feeling like I’m riding like that.
Hey Padraig, the dude in the video is riding flats. Get after it.
