Never Not Bleeding for the Cause. Robot’s wife said, “Oh my god, why are you always bleeding?” Suffice it to say, some of us are less careful than we ought to be. Also, the world is pointy and sharp. At this stage, we’re often not even sure why we’re bleeding, but we never stop. It’s why we can’t do crimes.

Yes, Robot I wear heavy duty wrist guards with nylon braces and armored gloves. I don’t give AF about looking cool or otherwise and having worn this sort of gear for more than 25 years I am not inhibited from anything ride wise. This is certainly preventative in nature, but, I have wrecked-a-plenty during this time span and worn out/broken many braces (typically I go through 3 to 4 sets per year) without any resulting hand or wrist damage.
On the contrary, I simply don’t get why anyone who is prone to injury and/or has injured themselves bad enough to keep them away from their endeavors, keeps doing the thing again the same way and expecting a different result. Sure Charlie, Lucy will definitely hold that ball for you this time. 🙄 Taking preventative measures may not be “cool” or whatever prevailing bs tastemakers attribute to such efforts. Yet, being able to do it again tomorrow is a gazillion times “cooler” than being a laid up “tough/dumbass” guy.
Doc, if we implied it wasn’t cool, that was not the intention.
Robot, again I don’t care about being cool. (“Eliminate the ninnies and the twits!”) I just find repeated personal damage that can be avoided perplexing. I mean the big stuff that keeps you off the board, bike or whatever as I get scratched up incessantly which is nbd. Also by “avoiding” such catastrophic events I do not mean ceasing said activity, but instead taking preventative measures to minimize the potential for said catastrophe.
Everyone has to do their own thing, but if I was looking wistfully at my skateboard after being down a year plus and having been through multiple super expensive surgeries like Mr Knievel, I would seriously be considering any options to protect myself from that EVER happening again.
However, maybe I’m doing it wrong/not going hard enough (or I am a woosie…I use helmet visors too for Chrysler’s sake!🤣) since I am not in constant pain even though I ride all the time and have a few years on y’all. “Time to clean some house. Be a man or a mouse.”
