This week is a tandem episode and my guest is Miguel Crawford, the organizer of the Grasshopper Adventure Series. The Grasshopper Series began back in the 1990s as a series of monthly training rides meant to get some local riders into shape for summer racing. They would gradually ramp up in distance and climbing from January to June.
In the more than 20 years that the Grasshoppers have been held, they’ve gone from being an entirely underground event to an important piece of training and racing for the likes of Ted King and Laurens Ten Dam. With their growth has come a greater level of organization and an expansion of where the races are held. I decided to catch up with Miguel to learn more about the changing face of the Grasshoppers.
