This week is a tandem episode and my guest is Scott Holz, a senior program manager for Specialized. I met Scott back in the mid-aughts when he first joined Specialized as a fit instructor for their SBCU fitting school. Since that time, Scott’s role has evolved quite a bit including stints overseeing the Body Geometry brand of products and the Retül fit system, but he’s still intimately involved with how Specialized approaches and teaches the fitting of cyclists.
I wanted to talk to Scott for several reasons, a mix of both personal and professional. I’ve seen an erosion in the fit services that shops offer and as a result, I haven’t seen so many riders on the road who need the services of a good fitter since the 1990s. I was curious to check in with Scott and see how Specialized’s approach to fitting has evolved since I went through the SBCU program some years back.
