The Apocalypse Being Nigh. This episode has been gifted to humanity one day before the US election that may or may not (but probably will) trigger the end of our species in the universe. We can imagine a few of you are feeling some considerable stress, so today we’re going to talk about how to laugh while all around you is fire and/or brimstone.

The Hoodoo Gurus were certainly big and super popular at my hometown beach. They were “edgy’ yet poppy enough for the surfer milieu I grew up in. There are a zillion great Aussie bands. However here are a couple in the punk/garage vein that you do not hear as much about. First, Lime Spiders who played ripping garage psyche stuff circa mid-80s. They had some notoriety when MTV played their video “My Room” for a bit, but it was their song “Slave Girl” that made me forever a fan. Second, The Celibate Rifles who shared some members with The Lime Spiders, initially rolled in with 70s punk explosion. The have a huge discography, but the song “Back in the Red” is the one that grabbed me.
