Skipping the niceties and wink-wink cuteness of my usual opening sentences, there are 3 reasons I like these glasses. First, they’re vented. I have a big fogging problem with most of my riding glasses. The Dolomites solve that problem with strategically placed vents at the edges of the lenses. Venting is a detail Tifosi seems all in on, unlike most optics outfits, which either means it’s a dumb idea or they’re just way ahead of everyone else.
I think it’s the latter.
I have a few pairs of nice, wrap around sunglasses that I wear casually, but if I wear them on the bike, they get into this cycle of fog and clear, fog and clear that drives me nuts, not to mention the heat that builds up around my eyes, which is a real thing. Hot eye. Who knew?
The second thing I like about the Dolomites is that you can wear them off the bike without looking like a cyborg on its way to do a contract hit. Or like you’re off to do some casual ski jumping. Or like you drink a lot of Michelob Ultra. Draw whatever composite you will from those details.
Tifosi does make plenty of cyborg assassin glasses, if that’s your vibe (or your profession). But I don’t really like having specialized crap for everything I do.
The Dolomite 2.0 comes in four colorways, and each pair includes three interchangeable lenses, one of which is clear. I absolutely love having that clear option for cold, dark mornings when you want to shield your eyes from the air and wind that can lead to excess on bike crying.
There’s nothing wrong with crying BTW, but I’d hate to see you break your collarbone, because you were weeping rather than lifting your front wheel over a log or rock or cyborg assassin.
The third thing I like is that you can get these very effective, versatile glasses for $69.95 retail. You can spend A LOT on glasses, and $70 isn’t cheap at all in the grand scheme of things, but in the context of cycling specific glasses that are widely available at bike shops and versatile in the way these are, $69.95 is a good value.
As with all my reviews (unless noted otherwise) I bought these with my own money and expressed my real opinions about them. I don’t have any friends at Tifosi, and despite what I might have said, I don’t have anything against cyborg assassins.
